The biggest jump in event participation in August belonged to open water swim events, with registrations more than doubling for this event type compared to July. Of these, participants preferred 2-mile events over other open water swim race distances.

Adults and young adults made up a significant portion of race participants, accounting for over two-thirds of all registrations. Both groups also improved their registrations more than any other age groups in August, up 9% and 8%, respectively. Kids (3%) and teens (2%) saw the smallest growth in activity this month. Despite the shifts in distribution, the median age of competitors stayed constant at 35. Additionally, women continued to dominate the competition, accounting for 61% of participants.
